Civil War

As a lifelong history and American Civil War buff, I had to photograph some of the conflict’s historic locations. Although the differences were settled long ago, what remains from that time is purely American hallowed ground that has been preserved through the efforts of many.

Some Civil War battlefield locations have been very encroached upon by the modern world and completely covered over near population centers, but much remains through conservation efforts by many avid historical groups and interested government bodies, both large and small. As always, history moves on and so does the world, but we should not forget.

Here is a collection of photographs taken on a few of the better-known battlefields of the great conflict, such as Gettysburg and Antietam. In my travels to exhibit at art shows, there have been side trips to lesser-known battle sites as well, such as Perryville in Kentucky and New Market in Virginia.
