The Story

A very large, freshly painted red barn in the sunshine, the 1894 Delaplaine barn at the Bishop Claggett Center near Frederick, Maryland.  It has been very well-maintained and tended to in its retirement from being a working farm. The Claggett Center offers summer camps for kids, the barn itself as a wedding venue, and for meetings and retreats.

The barn was completely rebuilt from the ground up, the original horizontal wood siding replaced with vertical cedar, and a traditional standing seam metal roof was put on over wooden roof decking. The foundation is made from locally sourced Seneca sandstone and original as well.
