Cornfield Gothic #00412

The Story
This is a nearly abandoned and unused gothic church sitting in an early Spring farm field far out in the country. Through the growing season, rows of corn come pretty close to this old Gothic Revival building. In our time, this old building is well past its heyday but apparently is firmly rooted as the towering tree. Together on a hill, they are a strong declaration and a vision of permanence, a mainstay.
I visited this location a few times to photograph in various light, and each time a very old man living next door would come out and slowly walk up the hill to ask what I was doing there. He obviously looked after the place. Oddly enough, in his old age he never remembered me from one time to the next, but the grass was always cut.
Location: rural Clearfield County near Mahaffey, Pennsylvania.
