The Story

Lucy is a black Morgan horse mare having her portrait done in a summer field with white tree flowers on a warm and sunny summer day. With ears pricked up, she’s alert to the birds and humans around her. There is summer beauty all around to enjoy.

In her new summer coat of May, she is a smooth black with a sheen, and her top mane hair is braided back for this portrait. She has just one white forehead star, the only non-black in her coat.

It’s very true that the Morgan breed is one of the smoothest riding horses of all. It’s like sitting in a chair with no up-and-down rhythm in the saddle, making a far more relaxing and enjoyable ride. If you enjoy horseback riding, be sure to try a gaited horse like this classic Morgan.
