The Story

A bright summer day at the Gettysburg National Military Park makes the gleaming white marble of the Pennsylvania monument stand out. The plaques installed around the base of the monument list every man from Pennsylvania who fought in the three-day battle here, and there were quite a few who were defending their home state at the time. I have read that Pennsylvania and New York had the most soldiers on the field.
