Spook Hollow #12006

The Story
For those that believe in Halloween, this haunted cemetery in winter snow should do the trick. It’s unusual and rather spooky, not to mention downright weird and perhaps even chilling. It is clearly not the usual winter landscape!
This cemetery view was photographed in the usual way. Then it had a special digital process applied to it in order to fit the title better and I was trying to go from just “spooky-looking” to even spookier yet. That digital twist-up turned the snow to gray and heavily contrasted the tree limbs with a strange light, both of which added to the weirdness. I don’t often use any processing this heavy-handed, but this one called for it. I’m glad it worked out well because it’s unusual yet beautiful, weird and wonderful.
For a comparison and to see the unprocessed and unchanged original picture of this haunted cemetery in winter snow, have a look at Chilled To The Bone #10147. There you’ll find a more detailed and interesting backstory on how this shot came about as well.
This is the companion to another image in the catalog, Exit Only, #10146. The two images were created in sequence on the same overcast winter day in early March about fifteen steps apart. The cemetery lies about ten blocks from home in my Pennsylvania hometown.
