Vase Pillar #14303
$0.00
The Story
Like a natural vase, the shaping of erosion by the waters of Lake Superior has narrowed the base of this pillar of rock. Soon the rock above will crash into the lake, just as the water has worn away much of this unusual coastline of high rock cliffs. As seen here, it is the vertical staining of the rock in various colors that gave the place its name of Pictured Rocks.
Location: in the Great Lakes on Lake Superior, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Munising, Michigan.
