RR Museum of Pennsylvania
The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is located in Strasburg, PA, next to the steam operations of the Strasburg Railroad. Since the museum features quite a few steam locomotives and old rolling stock from the heyday of railroading that was done with steam, it’s a very fitting location.
Since the Pennsylvania Railroad was once one the largest corporations in the world, it is also fitting that most of the museum is devoted to it and the various types of steam locomotives the railroad operated through its long history. Also included are cosmetically restored versions of PRR electric and diesel locomotives. There are over 100 locomotives and cars on display.
I chose to photograph the old and rough unrestored steam locomotives sitting outside the museum in black and white. It seemed to enhance what these big machines were all about; their character and age seemed to emerge more.
