The Story

A weathered old schoolhouse sitting out in the countryside, deep in retirement, with a belfry minus a bell and a Boy Scouts of America sign from another use through time. This school was likely of the one-room type, teaching multiple grades at once, and stayed that way since its inception. It’s an unpainted wooden gem wearing a rusty metal roof, and it shows having been well taken care of through time nonetheless.

Location: very rural Bedford County, Pennsylvania. Picture and story ©Andrew Dierks
