The Story

The Manistee Michigan lighthouse is under a peach-colored sunset light and a glowing sky. As the saying goes, red skies at night, sailor’s delight. The steely blue waters chopping below are in great contrast to the orange sky. A few gulls swirl about randomly and two walkers wearing light jackets in the evening cool head out to the light, just because.

All of that seems right to make this a very calming and tranquil scene. It’s a great relaxing way to end an evening with hopes of a great tomorrow.

Even during a colorful and peaceful sunset such as this, one might recall the powerful raging storms of deep winter. That’s when thick ice hangs heavy on the iron walkways and lighthouse as the high waves crash against them. The time has come to count one’s blessings and enjoy what you’ve been given here in calmer times.
