The Story

On a sunny morning doubleheader, two Strasburg Railroad steam locomotives making white smoke pull a freight train through the Amish farm fields. The green grass in the foreground shows how fertile an agricultural area it is.

The Amish farms and the railroad have a very long history together: The Strasburg Railroad was chartered in 1832, which makes it close to 200 years old. In fact, it is the oldest continuously operating railroad in the Western Hemisphere.
