The High Way #14262

The Story
At Watkins Glen State Park, a staircase of stone steps takes the visitor ever higher up to reach the end of the trail at the top. The trail is only a mile long, but it’s uphill the entire way. Glen Creek flows rather lazily between the high rock walls at this very narrow point, it’s not in much of a hurry on this level.
There are over 800 stone steps at Watkins Glen, with the staircases connected by laid stone or fine gravel paths. Thankfully, there are rock walls for safety all along the trail. If that sounds like too arduous an uphill walk, take the easy way: ride the shuttle to the top and walk down.
Location: Watkins Glen State Park, Watkins Glen, Schuyler County, New York.
