The Story

Under a spreading pine, an old Gulf gas station sign stands in a field above a vintage 1952 Chrysler car in a combination New Jersey museum/junkyard. It’s a rare sign and not many are left, but several gasoline brand signs of this type are on display here, along with many old vehicles in various conditions.

This collection of petroliana and cars is an informal one with access by permission of the owner/collector. Walking through, there are many car and truck carcasses on the property along with other metal hulks and buildings. It covers a wide area and involves much walking to see all the vehicles. One location has a facsimile of an old gas station but without gas pumps.

All in all, this old Gulf station sign is part of a nice and interesting informal collection of cars, trucks, and petroliana.
